Every contact starts with a signal

From a quiet band opening to a long-distance DX contact, every QSO begins by listening, understanding the conditions and finding the right moment to transmit.

RadioSpace is built around that process: experimentation, good operating practice and the satisfaction of making a real contact over the air.

GOOD OPERATING

Operating notes for every contact

Listen before you transmit Check the frequency, listen for existing traffic and understand the rhythm of the band before calling.
Call clearly and identify Use your callsign, keep exchanges clear and concise, and make every contact easy to understand.
Respect the band plan Operate inside your privileges, follow accepted band practices and leave room for other stations.

KQ4NAT

“DX rewards patience, good listening and an understanding of propagation.”

image

CO8PHG

“Every antenna, feed line and radio setting is another opportunity to learn.”

image

RadioSpace

“Local VHF and UHF activity keeps radio connected to the community around us.”

image

VHF / UHF

“Digital modes show how radio and computing can work together at the edge of the noise.”

image

Digital

“The best station is one that keeps you experimenting, learning and getting on the air.”

FAQ

Amateur radio FAQ

What is amateur radio? Amateur radio is a licensed radio service used for communication, technical experimentation, self-training and contact between operators around the world.
What is a callsign? A callsign is the unique on-air identifier assigned to a licensed amateur-radio station or operator by the appropriate authority.
What does DX mean? DX generally refers to long-distance radio communication. Conditions on HF can allow signals to travel hundreds or thousands of miles.
What are HF, VHF and UHF? They are broad frequency regions used for different kinds of amateur-radio activity, from long-distance HF work to local, repeater and satellite operation on VHF and UHF.
What are digital modes? Digital modes use a computer or digital interface to encode and decode information over radio. Examples include FT8, RTTY, JS8Call and APRS.
What is a QSL? A QSL confirms a radio contact. It may be exchanged as a traditional card or through an electronic logging and confirmation service.
